Mojave - Astoria, NY

Hey Everyone! Back for more of the Best Food Around Town. This week I visited Mojave restaurant in Astoria. They are a sister restaurant of Agave in the NYC. Both restaurants are very good! Mojave has a better atmosphere and is a bigger place. Agave is good but cramped if you can make it to Mojave instead definitely worth the trip.

Me and some friends went for brunch and I had the Mojave Benedict, which was good and different. Poached eggs with avocado and tomato in a habanero hollandaise sauce. Besides the food being very good and utique, the prices are very reasonable. However the reason for this blog is more for a particular drink they serve at Mojave.

THE PUNISHER!!!!.....(link to cocktails menu...on top left hand side) this drink isn't for the faint hearted. As they make you sign a waver before you drink it. agave tequilla infused with habaneros. Yes people yours truely has taken the challenge and passed it. Its a double shot glass and the deal is you can't drink or eat anything for 5 minutes after you have it. The best way to defeat this challenge is to pound the shot and wait patiently as time ticks by. Thinking about it might sound alot longer then it was. As I sat there with my mouth ablaze, 5 minutes seems like forever. If your intrigued I would first ask yourself...do I like hot spicy stuff....if you answer that with a yes. Then I would say you maybe up for the challenge.....

The Cook Room - Medford, NY

The Cook Room is an old looking 50's diner car. The food that comes out of it is unbelievable. My favorite thing at the CookRoom is their aussie burger. This burger is one of the best burgers I've ever had!!! I know thats a very big claim but I wouldn't steer you wrong. The burger comes with a fried egg, ham, grilled pinnapple, beets(I'm not a fan of beets, but will try it soon), cheddar cheese and russian dressing. WOW!!! its definitely not something to have all the time but man its a treat. If you like unsweetened tea then debbie's tea is for you! Something I definitely recommend with anything on the lunch menu. The fries are some of the best fries since they are batter dipped! The potato salad is another favorite of mine as they have a secret ingredient...BACON!!!! I haven't had anything bad there yet. Since I live close by I've been there quite a few times.

As for Breakfast....The best omelete ever created the ABC omelete. Avacado, Bacon, and cheddar! Its a killer way to start your day. If your a fan of avacado like I'm, then this is for you!!! The homefries are very good, sometimes I like to get tomato instead of potato. I don't know where they get there tomatos but they are gianormous!!! It's definitely worth a ride and please write me and let me know what you thought.I recommend going a few times for lunch and breakfast and try as much as you can.
