The Queens Kickshaw - Astoria, NY

The Queens Kickshaw is a place you probably wouldn't walk into if you didn't know any better. A friend of mine brought me here recently and I'm glad he did. The place is very laid back and when we went the service was definitely not to my liking. People had walked in after us, had received there food well before we did. There is one chef and he's working in a very limited space, supposedly he makes things in batches and if you happen to be lucky and order something that came out when you walk in, you get your food quicker. It was a good thing the quality craft beer I was drinking or I would of been a goner. When our food finally did arrive the first bite made any feeling of anger just melt away. The grilled cheese I ordered was the Gouda grilled cheese. A description from their menu: black bean hummus, guava jam, pickled jalapenos, on brioche with green salad and jalapeno vinaigrette. It was pretty darn good, the only problem was there wasn't anymore when I was finished.

All in all I would say this is a must, if you live anywhere in the area. Even if you don't whats a little car ride, for some of the best grilled cheese this side of the Mississippi.

Below is a picture of my empty plate, I tried to take a picture before hand, but I took the first bite and couldn't stop eating....
